Falling for the New Fabric Release from Style Makers

Falling for the New Fabric Release from Style Makers

When Style Maker Fabrics invited me to join their latest fall launch, I couldn’t have been more excited!

Their seasonal collection featured an incredible selection of fabrics in a rich palette of autumn hues, and narrowing down my choices was no easy task. What truly stood out was their exceptional customer service. I shared a snapshot of my Color Guru swatch, and they helped me select fabrics that coordinated beautifully within my palette. It completely removed the guesswork from ordering online and gave me full confidence that everything would work in harmony.

Sure enough, when my fabric bundle arrived, it was exactly what I had envisioned—a perfect trio for a cohesive fall outfit built around staple wardrobe pieces.

Here’s what I chose:

The Vest: Quilted Coziness Meets Timeless Style

The Matte Rose Quilted Coating was love at first touch—soft, spongy, and surprisingly easy to sew. For the pattern, I chose the Cap Sleeve Vest from The Assembly Line, an ideal match for mild fall weather and layering over knits. I opted for the unlined version since the fabric is double-sided, and with matched serger threads, the inside finish was neat and polished.

This vest features a clean, straight silhouette with a slight oversized feel—I sized down for a better fit. I added buttons to the front, choosing smaller ones at the collar stand for a cozy turtleneck-like closure that I love for colder days.

The sleek flap-front pockets are both practical and stylish, offering enough room for a phone or keys—no bag needed on those crisp autumn walks. My favorite feature, though, is the cap sleeve. It adds just the right amount of shoulder structure to give the vest a blazer-like shape, but with all the ease and comfort of a classic layering piece.

The Shirt: Classic Plaid with a Twist

For the Butterscotch Madras plaid cotton I choose to make the Rachel button down from Seamwork. This pattern has all the traditional shirt details—collar, button placket, and cuffs. I added a personal touch by lengthening the cuffs to allow for French cuffs, which I think gives it a refined, custom-made vibe. Head over to my blog here to read more about how I matched the plaid and achieved a polished finish. The warm tones in this print are sure to inspire more fall outfit pairings in my wardrobe!

The Skirt: Denim Done Differently

Lastly, the Cinnamon Stretch Denim became my version of the Fibre Mood Marah Maxi Cargo Skirt. This fabric has the perfect mix of structure and stretch, making it both comfortable and crisp. It was a dream to sew—pressed like a charm, stitched smoothly, and held up beautifully for the topstitched pocket details.

This pattern is loaded with pockets: curved front pockets, roomy back patch pockets, and a standout oversized cargo pocket with bias binding and a flap. Whether you go mini or maxi, the pocket options let you personalize your look. A shaped waistband, belt loops, front zip, and a back vent all contribute to a professional finish. My custom label from The Dutch Label Shop was the perfect final touch.

With these three pieces complete, I’ve built a stylish, versatile outfit I’ll be wearing all season long. The combination of thoughtful patterns and premium fabrics from Style Maker truly elevated my sewing experience.

If you’re planning a seasonal refresh, I can’t recommend their fall collection enough. Browse their fabrics, get inspired, and start stitching your own autumn wardrobe staples—I can’t wait to see what you create!

Because after all… there is Sew Much to Design.
